Walks: When you’ve finished your coffee, head left as you leave and follow down to the bottom of the high street and cross the road. Keep heading down past the cozy club and you’ll end up in Stamford Meadows for a lovely walk alongside the stream and views up to Stamford’s famous old bridge.

Location details: Very central on the middle of Stamford High Street surrounded by shops. It can get quite busy (especially Friday – market day), so it’s more suited to dogs that aren’t phased by lots of people, dogs and noise.

Although dogs aren’t allowed inside the Garden Café, they are very welcome in the outdoor seating area, which is why we’ve included it on this list. It’s such a beautiful place to stop for a coffee and cake before heading off for a walk and taking in the impressive surroundings of one of Stamford’s most iconic estates.

Only assistance dogs are permitted inside Burghley House itself, the Garden of Surprises, the Sculpture Garden, the Adventure Play area and the Orangery Restaurant.

Walks: The main parkland surrounding Burghley House is free to explore with wide open spaces and scenic walks. It’s a working deer park, so dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. This makes it ideal for a relaxed, on‑lead stroll.

Location details: Located just outside Stamford, Burghley House is easy to reach and offers free parking. There are plenty of open grassy areas to sit and relax, making it a lovely place to grab a takeaway cuppa and enjoy the views. Best suited to dogs that are comfortable staying on a lead due to the resident deer.

Walks: Located right next to Stamford Meadows, this is an ideal stop either before or after a walk. From the café you can head straight out onto the Meadows for a riverside stroll along the River Welland.
