Wilson's Walks
On Your Doorstep
In this walk Mum found a much more local starting place as we went to explore some of the local villages following local public footpaths.
We started out in Baston, a picturesque village just off the A15 between Bourne and Market Deeping. There’s plenty of parking along the Main Street or outside the local pubs.
From the village we crossed over the A15 to join the public footpath that runs up the side of Maltby Drive.
The footpath takes you towards King Street and away from the A15 on a public footpath to Wilsthorpe. The roads were quite quiet as we headed into Wilsthorpe.
Opposite the Church we took a left and followed the footpath towards Greatford and Braceborough. Being well away from the road, this part of the walk was like freedom to my paws. I’m a good boy and Mum let me off the lead in this section. It was woofmazing feeling my ears flap in the wind!
Back on my lead we took the path towards Greatford and picked up the footpath back towards Langtoft. This takes you back over Kings Street again and then straight across the fields back to the A15.
You could walk back through Langtoft and make a stop at the crossroads at their local pub or use the village shop. There is a public footpath just by the allotments which leads you back through the open fields and into Baston again.
Because a couple of sections of this 7.5 mile circular walk are well away from the roads and through public footpaths crossing fields, with a good view, Mum said it was OK for me to have a good run. The parts of the walk that are on the road Mum kept me on the lead on these.
The ground across the fields in places can be uneven and the wooden bridges are a bit slippery so our humans really need walking boots or wellies. My paws loved it all!
Looking across the low lying fields there are lovely views all round, and across so much space I only met one other dog.
This walk can be lengthened or shortened in several places as there are lots of footpaths to choose from and makes a great way to explore with our paws on the doorstep.
Back at home Mum washed my paws and I was ready for a rest on my cosy bed.
