Join us for a walk around Grimsthorpe.

Jumping into Mum’s car, I had my harness on and mum clipped my seatbelt on and away we go. I’m Wilson a black springer spaniel and my Mum owns a pet shop (lucky me!) Today is her day with me and I love these days as we get to go on longer adventures which I can’t wait to share with you.

On this first walk we explore Grimsthorpe Castle. It’s a short 20 minute drive from around the Deepings area, just north of Bourne. I love it when the car slows down and I can smell the great outdoors and know it will be very soon I can jump out of the car and get started on my walkies.

Grimsthorpe Castle is set amongst 3,000 acres of park and woodland. With all this space comes lots of wildlife too. There are deer, cattle and lots of birds and small mammals and lots of insects and dragonflies. That’s why on this walk I’ll be on my lead. All dogs visiting here are requested to be on a lead so it’s not just me!

As we head off Mum has poop bags at the ready (phew!) and I spied my water bottle, and I know she had some treats and pretends to hide them. There is a dog water bowl located outside the Shop and the poop bins are near the castle.

This is a great walk for my paws with lots of lovely grass and parkland. Plus on a sunny day there’s some good shade too. It’s also nice an quiet once you get walking away from the shop, which is great for other dogs who like to have their own space.

We covered a good 10 mile walk (that’s lots of thousands of doggie steps!) around the parkland today. When you arrive you can pick up a map from the entry huts with different walking roots around the park.

Accessing Grimsthorpe

Grimsthorpe is open from April through to October each year and on select days of the week between 10:30am and 6pm with the last entry at 5pm.
